What role does disruption of the carbon cycle have in global warming?
“Disruption” is the wrong word to use unless you specify the carbon cycle you’re talking about. The natural carbon cycle acts as a net carbon sink, though there is continuous flow between the oceans and atmosphere and biosphere. Humans add carbon dioxide but do not take any in, so we offset the *natural* carbon cycle. In this was we are “disrupting” it, though we are still part of the cycle. http://www.uwsp.edu/geo/faculty/ritter/g… The extra CO2 that is added to the atmosphere each year from humans is largely absorbed by natural sinks, mainly the oceans, but it is not absorbed at a fast enough rate; the overall effect is an increase in atmospheric CO2 ppm. This subsequently causes warming in the atmosphere since CO2 is a greenhouse gas. If you’d like more details than this, just ask and I’ll give you the info you’d like, or some links. However, I may not answer immed
