What role do vastu shastra and feng shui play?
As an interior designer I don’t follow the principles of vastu shastra or feng shui. However, an architect may want to position his building in a certain manner according to vastu shastra. Most often such aspects are left to the architect, unless a client insists that we do it for him. What factors determine altering an existing design? We’ve done alterations to some existing hotels and transformed them into totally new concepts. While doing so, the important thing is not to tamper with the old structure – like RCC beams or RCC columns, but the rest of the portion can be redone. An alteration also depends on the client’s budget and his brief. What advantage does software have in executing a design? The software we use for particular design is extremely handy. Primary concepts may be worked out on the drawing board, in mind or on paper, but subsequent development is done on computer. This saves precious time, and in a given period, we can complete two projects, instead of just one. This
