What role do Catholic schools have in evangelization?
I’m a big fan of Catholic schools because I went to Catholic schools. A Catholic school provides the kind of community young people need to help them make a lifelong commitment to the faith. Denver also is blessed with the growing new movements in the Church, such as the Community of Beatitudes, the Neocatechumenal Way, the Christian Life Movement and others. What role do these movements play in the life of the Church? I think they are wonderful, because they offer different ways of growing in the faith. This enriches the whole Church.What type of pastoral ministry do you enjoy most? The most challenging, and at the same time most enjoyable is working with young people. It is often the parents who want their teenagers and high school age students to be involved in Church activities. And often, the kids aren’t too interested. I have found that by getting to know them, and offering them activities like youth group and retreats, they begin to grow in enthusiasm for the faith.
