What role did religion play during the dutch settlement in south africa?

The dutch settlers had absolutely nothing to do with apartheid. The dutch never thought that they had the right to overpower the blacks, Indians, Asians etc. They were trading people who set up a half way stop in SA. In the early days there were not many black people in SA. They migrated south as the dutch went north. The British arrived and the first wars were between the Dutch and the British. Also the French came and the Portuguese. So you can not put the blame of apartheid on the early settles. Remember they were there in the 1600’s and apartheid only came in around 1950’s onwards (Not sure of the exact date.) That is more than 300 years!!
