What role did nationalism play in the unification of countries in europe?
Nationalism leads to the deep thought and belief that if you were the same by language and by culture you should have land to represent that. A lot of Europeans were of the same nationality but did not a have boundaries by the name of land and sea. For example the Unification of Germany in 1871 by Otto Van Bismarck was an example of nationalism in this case; that the Germans who were all of the same language and culture should all reside in the same boundaries. Nationalism also is the deep patriotism within your land. An example of this is maybe the French. But the downfall of nationalism was the path it lead and the role it played to such ideological values such that of maybe Fascism for example.
