Well, he first played with a band called Terry Webb and the Spiders (1964). Then he went on to play with bands such as, The Blue Star Trio and the Senators. He also played with a band called “A Way Of Life”, after which he joined the group, Crawling King Snakes who’s lead singer was Robert Plant. Bonham gained the reputation as the loudest drummer in England. Robert Plant then formed a band called, A way of Life and asked John to fill the drummers seat, I think that was like, 1967, or 68. Then Jimmy came along. The Yardbirds were breaking up, and he was looking for a singer, he wanted Terry Reid for that spot, but Reid was already working with Mickie Frost, but Terry suggested Robert Plant to him, whom in turn suggested John Henry Bonham. Jimmy, and Peter Grant went to see Tim Rose play with the young Phenom, John Bonham, and decided there, on the spot, that he was the one they had been looking for, Led Zeppelin was born, and I guess the rest is history. John was born on May 31st, 1948
