What risk weighting is given to roads which have residential or nursing care facilities sited on them?
This was included in the criteria used to determine the risk rating. Residential/care homes were defined as ‘adjacent key facilities.’ How are the roadside grit bins used? These bins were for public use. BCC did not have a duty to supply these bins. However Parish Councils could purchase the bins for £450 per bin (full of salt). BCC would then keep the bins filled. There had been some reports of commercial firms taking the grit from bins and selling it on. If a member witnessed this, they should let BCC know. BCC had taken legal advice regarding clearing of ice/snow by members of the public. BCC was very happy for members of the public (or the Parish Council) to clear snow on the highways. If action was taken against BCC (which was very rare), BCC would probably not involve a third party in this. Does BCC refill the grit bins in the Drill Hall and the McMinn Centre in Chesham? If the bins are not on the public highway then the organisations stated would have to pay to have them re-fill
