What rights do i have against an unfit grandparent?

From what I understand of the law (2 years in law school), the grandparent’s rights are restricted to custodial rights in the event that both biological parents are incapacitated. Other than that, they are not entitled to anything as long as you and your husband are in the picture. A restraining order isn’t necessary and at this point we al know that it’s very difficult to enforce. As long as you and your husband are together, your rights as a parent trumps “grandparent rights”. If you don’t want her to be in your child’s lives, just say so. There isn’t anything she can do about it. It’s you and your husband’s choice. EDIT: Obviously state laws differ, but most of them follow this line of thought. Obviously I would recommend double checking local legislature.
