What resources will be dispatched in a real rapid containment operation?
Recently, several nations and international agencies have established stockpiles of Oseltamivir (Tamiflu) and personal protective equipment (PPE) in the Asia Pacific region and other parts of the world. The Government of Japan has provided the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Secretariat with a stockpile of 500 000 courses of Oseltamivir (Tamiflu) and personal protective equipment (PPE) for 700 000 people. These resources, which are located in Singapore, will be dispatched to the outbreak location with the goal of containing a human influenza pandemic before it has the opportunity to spread, or long enough to facilitate more widespread containment efforts. Note: No Tamiflu or PPE will be transported during PanStop. PanStop is mainly a test of risk assessment, communications and decision-making.
