What religion is against child immunization?
Many Christian Scientists are against immunization in general due to their belief that sickness is a result of fear, ignorance, or sin. According to their founder, Mary Baker Eddy, "Sickness must be covered with the veil of harmony, and the consciousness be allowed to rejoice in the sense that it has nothing to mourn over, but something to forget." While Christian Scientists do not ban membership from the practice, certain employees of the church are asked to sign a statement of principles attesting to the healing power of God. Additionally, certain vaccines contain animal products that many vegetarian Hindus and Buddhists find objectionable.
