What relevance will the results have for the average person?
It is always difficult to quantify RTD spin-offs precisely and predict the impact to the society. By definition, research is a high-risk activity; hence it may take a very long time to actually see the benefits. This is particularly so for EU research projects, limited to the pre-competitive area. However, in GEMINI, the major scientific findings will contribute to the development of new technologies with a better control of the biotechnological processes and applications. This will benefit consumers by lowering the amount of additive and, increasing consistency of the final product, thus maximising consumer appeal. Such project will also contribute to increase attractiveness of Europe for researchers and through Europe competitiveness assist in job creation.
