What relationship does the Skills Funding Agency have with Train to Gain?
The Skills Funding Agency is responsible for ensuring that colleges and providers make a full range of provision available to employers through Train to Gain. The Skills Funding Agency distributes funds for Train to Gain providers across the country. Employers access Train to Gain by contact with local providers or through advice from Business Link. In 2010/11 the government plans to invest nearly £1 billion through Train to Gain, building on the £38 billion that employers are already investing in training each year. We will focus the substantial investment on areas of high growth and ensure greater co-funding by employers. The emphasis going forward is on fully supporting employers to upskill their employees, with employers contributing towards the cost of those staff who wish to gain qualifications to re-skill.
