WHAT RELATIONSHIP DOES NACE-CWA HAVE TO UPTE-CWA?
NACE-CWA is an organizing committee of rank-and-file clerical workers who asked for assistance with organizing from CWA national. If we’re successful, we will be our own CWA local, with our own officers and structure. University Professional & Technical Employees is an entirely separate CWA local that has existed at UC since 1993. It currently represents 12,000 researchers, techs and health care professionals, and is organizing among UC’s 14,000 administrative professionals. UPTE-CWA’s elected systemwide board recently voted to support NACE organizers, after receiving a request to do so directly from us.
