What reimbursement do foster parents receive?
At Youth Villages, foster parents receive an average of $20 to $30 a day, depending on the child’s needs. Foster parents can receive as much as $18,500 tax-free each year to support the child in their care. From the reimbursement, foster parents must provide a child with clothing, food, school supplies, incidental expenses and the child’s monthly allowance. Foster parents must also ensure that the child is allowed to participate in school and extracurricular activities such as sports teams or band — and pay any expenses for those activities. State programs provide medical care for the children.
