What recent programs has the Lincoln Child Center introduced?
Our newest program, Project Permanence, was created in 2008 in collaboration with Alameda County Behavioral Healthcare and Child and Families Services Division of the Social Services Agency. This program was designed to help youth “step-down” from group home care into family settings – with relatives, foster parents, or biological parents. Transitions like this can be very difficult for families, and our program supports both the youth and the family. It helps to identify community resources and provides mental health services that make the transition easier for everyone. We have found that this service has significantly improved the stability of children as they move into family homes. The Project Permanence Program was a response to an identified need outlined by Alameda County, and our decision to respond to their request came out of our desire to move the organization away from residential care and into more community-based services.
