What Rebates or Grants are available?
The Federal Government (Eco Energy Program) is offering rebates to people who replace a gas furnace with an AFUE of 90% or higher. The Provincial Government at this time is willing to match any grants that the Federal Government gives. They also offer grants for anyone who replaces their air conditioner with an ENERGY STAR qualified unit. The OPA (Ontario Power Authority) is currently offering the Cool Savings Rebate program, which offers rebates to people who replace their furnace with a mid or high efficiency furnace with an electronically Commutated Motor, replace their central air conditioner system with one that is ENERGY STAR qualified, or if you replace your non-programmable thermostat with one that is programmable. The average home owner may qualify for up to $650.00 in total rebates. The Cool Savings Rebate program expires on March 31, 2008.
