What reason do the Jews give for the conquest of Jerusalem and 19 centuries of diaspora?
In the Torah, Moses calls the Jews “The sons of G-d” (Deut. 14:1). A good father will not provide everything for his child indefinitely, but will ocassionally challenge the child to fend for himself; to rise to the challenge of succeeding independently under adverse circumstances. We believe that G-d designed a world that would be imperfect. He then challenges us to perfect that world. Before we could do it, He inspired and empowered us through a period of Divine revelation through the prophets and the Temple in Jerusalem. After that, it was time to send us off into the world, stop “spoon-feeding”, us and challenge us to transform the entire world into a moral and spiritual place. Once we succeed, He will reintroduce that Divine revelation- this time to the entire world. The apex of spirituality will again return to Jerusalem- and every person on Earth will have access to G-d. Each person who made a difference to the morality and spirituality of the world will then be considered G-d’s
