What Really Was the Sin of Sodom?
Many believe that God rained fire and brimstone down on the city of Sodom for the sin of homosexuality. In fact, the act known as sodomy derives its name from this misguided notion. For the truth of the sin of Sodom, let us go to the Word of God which He spoke through the mouth of the prophet Ezekiel. Ezekiel 16:49 Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy. Notice, not a WORD about homosexuality! Paul told us that homosexuality results from our being unthankful in an unreasonable response to our knowledge about God which He reveals in His wrath and His creation around us.
