Mysterious Cities of Gold was a French/Japanese TV series running on Nickelodeon in the late eighties. It just came out on DVD. Asterix Le Gaulois, which is a truly great comic book, was adopted into a series of animated films in the eighties which seem to have made a comeback on the web since that horrible live-action Asterix au Jeux Olympiques came out. What I’ve seen of the animated Asterixes are just excellent. So was the Tintin TV series, which I’ve seen episodes of. Totally Spies is another French TV series. The King and the Mockingbird, in its final form, has never been released in America. There’s a good piece in the Wikipedia. It’s called History of French animation. Every time I try to submit this with a link to it Yahoo throws up a security error. I gather they are trying to limit access to the Wikipedia, with the reason being some articles are not reliable. Look there.
