What really gets people talking about TV shows online? What elements do the most popular ones share?
From our research, the show’s cast, writing and dialogue are elements critical to a show’s popularity. In addition, top-ranked shows on the BrandIntel list stray somewhat from crime dramas such as “CSI,” “Law & Order,” and “NCIS” that audiences have been watching in past years. This year’s crop of shows went against the grain, and that’s what audiences like to see. Are there any shows that you thought would be higher in the rankings based on pre-launch levels, or vice versa? Pre-launch, I was surprised that “Friday Night Lights” was not higher on initial rankings list. Given that the show is primarily based on a popular teen film, I expected to see more discussion share and sentiment building up to its premiere.
