What race do Latino / Hispanic people belong to?

Mexican is more of a nationality than an ethnicity or race. Most Mexicans are either Mestizo (mixed Amerindian and European), Amerindian or European (usually of Spanish or Portugese ancestry). Some Mexicans have African ancestry and others have Asian or Middle Eastern. It depends on what kinds of people settled and lived in Mexico. All of the Americas are similar in the sense that many people moved to them and changed the demographics of entire continents. There isn’t one race that Latino/Hispanic people “belong” to…. Hispanic is more of a culture than a race. If you are part Mexican, it is hard to say what race your Mexican ancestor was unless you know if he/she were Amerindian, Mestizo, European descent or other. ps, US censuses on ethnicity/race are horribly inaccurate and terribly outdated.
