What rabbit breeds do most petstores sell?

0

Most pet stores get their rabbits from either local breeders or a rabbit mill. Nearly all pet stores will market them as “dwarf” rabbits, when in many cases, they are not, I don’t want you to be fooled. (Also, pet stores are *notorious* for sexing their bunnies incorrectly, so always take him/her to the vet to double check!) A rabbit with lop ears will probably be either a Holland Lop (grow to be ~4 lbs.) or a Mini Lop (grow to be ~5 lbs.). A true Netherland Dwarf will be less than 2 lbs. when fully grown. Keep in mind that because of how they were bred to be small, this breed is more prone to dental disease due to the small size of their heads and shortened jaws. They also typically have more energy than larger breeds, so they can be hyper! Two other breeds that I’ve also seen at pet stores are the Lionhead and Dutch (both grow to be ~4 lbs.). [Type any of these breed names into a Google image search and you can see pics.] Please do your research before you get a rabbit! They can live
