What r the various roles that oceans and oceanic organisms play in the global Carbon Cycle?

Since this sounds like a school assignment, I will be brief to help point you in the proper direction. The world’s ocean is filled with photosynthetic organisms. It is also filled with trillions upont trillions of plankton. The algae, as plants uptake CO2 which is a primary source of carbon. They in turn are food for other forms of plankton, which work their way up the food chain. So, a photosynthetic alage binds the carbon via CO2, and is consumed passing the carbon up the food chain until it breaks down back into the environment through decay. Without the oceanic plankton/algaes, we would have an atmoshpere that was mainly CO2 and not Oxygen.
