What r the advantages and disadvantages of smooth coated dogs?
Advantages: Super-low maintenance coat. Less brushing, no debris needing to be combed out, no chance of tangles, etc… The coat is just very easy to take care of. Also, smooth coated dogs shed just as much, but it is much less noticeable, at least in IMO. Disadvantages: Smooth coated dogs generally don’t have as much protection against the weather and are less resistant against the cold. My dog with longer, thicker fur can be outside playing in the snow forever and not even think about it, but my smooth-coated dog gets cold pretty quickly. It works the other way too though. It can be 90 degrees and my smooth coated dog will be totally comfortable. My longer-coated dog will spend the day panting unless the AC is cranked way up. That’s really all I can think of. There isn’t really all that much difference between owning a dog with a smooth coat or a dog with longer coat. I have one of each, and the only big difference is that I have to spend a lot more time taking care of the longer coa
