What qualifications do you need to become a fully legible indoor rock climbing instructor?
Mr. TahoeT is wrong in his explanation. Let me explain! In Canada for example, indoor, outdoor rock, etc. instructors MUST have Association of Canadian Mountain Guides (ACMG) certification in order to instruct climbing. If not, a person is allowed to instruct if they are trained by an ACMG instructor and under supervision of an ACMG guide/instructor. The non-certified instructors act as apprentices, building up enough hours and skill to take the tests to become certified. The ACMG is part of an international organization who sets instruction/guiding standards for climbing, mountaineering, hiking/backpacking, etc. There is also an American division who does the same as in Canada. From experience, ACMG courses are very tough and expensive. In the end you are certified and credible.
