If you really want it, it’s never too late. To work in the lab, you need at least a bachelor’s degree in one of the physical sciences–chemistry, physics, or biology. Some universities also have the combine “forensic science” degree which is based in chemistry and crime labs accept that degree too. If you want to be a crime scene investigator there are a couple different paths–it degepends on the individual police departments. At some departments the CSIs are police officers.
