What qualifications do I need to begin a teacher education programme?

New Zealand Qualifications Authority website For diploma or degree programmes you will need to demonstrate certain levels of academic achievement and the ability to cope successfuly with tertiary level study. Each institution publishes a set of its own entry criteria. These are described on the TeachNZ website. TeachNZ website For a one year graduate early childhood, primary or secondary programme you must hold a degree or qualifications equivalent to a degree. The institution has the responsibility for telling potential students which qualifications equate with a degree. If there is any doubt, the institution will contact the Ministry of Education and obtain written confirmation of the degree status of your qualification.
