What Qualifications Are Needed To Be An Accountant?
Accountants come in many shapes and sizes. You can be a bookkeeper with just a knack for math and a high school degree, but you will need a 4 year accounting degree from a college or university and eventually pass the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) exam if you want to become a public accountant at one of the ‘big 4’ accounting firms. Generally, they are excellent with numbers/math and the best ones usually have some people skills because they interface with a wide variety of clients. They also tend to know a lot about the law regarding whatever their specialty may be (tax, audit, compliance, etc).
