What purpose does the Human Appendix serve?

0

The Appendix is part of the digestive system which does not appear to serve any purpose. The humam body has plenty of these, which are leftovers from an earlier stage of evolution. It is reckoned that the appendix was once some sort of stomach for digesting cellulose, such as grass or leaves. Another useless bit is the coccyx, which is a rudimentary tail which does not extend outside the body. It is a leftover from when humans’ ancestors had tails.
