What purpose do the aluminum angle clips serve in the area separation wall system?
The aluminum alloy clips attach the area separation wall to the wood frame wall. In the event of a fire, the clips will melt at about 1,000°F, letting the burning wood frame wall fall away from the area separation wall. These clips are screw-attached to the web on every other H-stud and nailed or screwed to the wood top plates 48″ o.c. maximum.
