What provisions are there to ease the transition between primary and secondary school?

To help Year 7 students feel comfortable as they move to secondary school, they are allocated their own lunch space and playground. This playground is for their exclusive use and can be found by going through the red stairs exit on the ground floor. Buddies and mentors are also allocated and Year 7 clubs take place at lunchtime and after school. For the first few weeks, staff are aware that Year 7 children are settling in and do make allowances for this, e.g. we know that students will get lost between lessons. Staff and other children are always on hand to help lost Year 7s as they get used to finding where their new rooms and teachers are. I am worried that my child may be finding the transition to secondary school difficult. Try not to worry. Some children do find it hard when they first transfer over but this usually only lasts a few days until they get used to their surroundings.
