What proportion of electricty will a PV system produce?
Buildings consume different amounts of electricity depending on their size, purpose, the kind of electrical devices used and the behaviour of the occupants. For example, the average household electricity consumption in the UK is 4,800 kWh per year. However, this is an average and varies considerably dependent on e.g. size of house, number of occupants and how energy conscious they are, how efficient the electrical appliances in a house are. For example, a smaller household might use 3,000 kWh per year or less. Using the UK average, a 2 kWp PV system could meet around a third of a household’s needs.
