What proof is there that social evolution exists?
Because we can’t turn back the clock (see the last question) and because we lack the data necessary to test the concept, little proof can be given. The situation is similar to the early days of the theories of biological evolution. It was not until fossil records substantiated the history of evolution, that the theories became a scientific certainty. The current project, and others like it, may be able to provide the essential data to validate the idea of social evolution, due to the ability of the Net to capture detailed signatures on the dynamics of knowledge creation, the core component of social evolution.
