What prompted you to reduce the import content of Kinetics newly launched GF series motorcycles by March 2001?
The duty structure was too high that we decided to source it from within the country. We thought that sourcing the components in-house was more profitable than going for sourcing them from outside the country. Has the general slump in the two wheeler industry affected your prospects? As a matter of fact the recent slump in the two wheeler market has not made any dent in our growth prospects. We actually look at the high margin segment, which has always been our niche area. With the duty structure revamp we will be able to position ourselves in the market. Could you tell about the financial position of Kinetic Motors? Sales went up by 4.4% as a result of higher volumes. Kinetic could sell 11,985 scooters in Q3 FY01 as against 7,637 units in the corresponding period last year. For the nine-month period, volumes are higher by 11.1% at 87,602 units.
