What progress have the WTD projects achieved compared with other parts of the NHS?
Answer The WTD diagnostic project has focussed on 11 Trusts who are estimated to have increased the number of doctors working a maximum 48 hour week by almost a fifth within a six month period. The figure for the NHS in England is estimated to be 5% (using New Deal monitoring information). The first of the EWTD 2009 pilots has successfully completed at Countess of Chester Trust. H@N services showing reduced patient mortality following implementation in South Devon and the Homerton.
