What programs provide training assistance to existing or expanding companies?
A. Yes, Maryland has three training programs, the Maryland Industrial Training Program (MITP), the Partnership for Workforce Quality (PWQ) Program, and the Maryland Business Works (MBW) Program that is administered by the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing & Regulation (DLLR). These programs provide grants to train new employees or to advance the skills of existing workers. Companies can receive up to $25,000 in matching funds for the PWQ Program. MITP funds are granted based on job growth and capital investment. The Maryland Business Works funds are designed for small businesses and are intended for incumbent training.
