What programs are available in HDTV?
As of the Fall 2001 season, ABC and CBS are broadcasting all of their scripted primetime series, such as sitcoms and drams, in HDTV. Fox is also broadcasting many dramas and sitcoms in HDTV. NBC offers “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” and CBS broadcasts “Young and the Restless” in HDTV every weekday. ABC and CBS broadcast many movies in High Definition, such as the “ABC Sunday Night Movie” and the “Wonderful World of Disney” movies. CBS broadcasts one SEC football game every Saturday in HDTV and has broadcast sporting events, such as the U.S. Open Tennis, NFL Playoffs, and the Masters and U.S. Open Golf in HDTV. All of these network HDTV presentations are available for free over-the-air. In addition, satellite HDTV programming, including HBO-HD and HDNet (an all-HDTV network featuring sports and documentaries) is available on DirecTV, while HBO-HD and Showtime-HD are available on Dish Network.
