What products does Cymer make and what is its role in the semiconductor industry?

0

Cymer is the world’s leading supplier of light sources for photolithography systems used in the manufacture of semiconductors. Cymer’s line of excimer laser products generate light in the deep ultraviolet (DUV) spectrum, and the company is commercializing an extreme ultraviolet (EUV) source that is expected to be inserted in production in 2011 or 2012. DUV light sources generate light with very short wavelengths (248nm and below). The light is emitted into a wafer stepper or wafer scanner, and is projected onto the surface of the wafer to develop a photoresist. The photolithography process patterns, or prints, the circuit pattern for the semiconductor on the wafer. For more information about the Cymer’s products, see the Products section on this website.
