“Telecommunications Equipment” – Products designed to be used by a Carrier to provide the following types of services over the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN): (a) telecommunications services (i.e., basic transmission of voice or data information) • excludes services such as those offered by Internet service providers (including Internet access and email) and others which offer computer mediated services or customer interaction with information data bases (b) “adjunct-to-basic” network services such as call waiting, speed dialing, call forwarding, computer-provided directory assistance, call monitoring, caller identification, call tracing and repeat dialing (c) voicemail or interactive menu services Covered examples: • Switch hardware and software • Service logic, databases and hardware used in Service Control Points “CPE” – Products (other than “Telecommunications Equipment”) designed to be connected to the PSTN and used to: (a) originate, route or terminate telecommunication
