What process was undertaken to develop the new U.S. Tentative List of candidate sites for the World Heritage List?
Voluntary applications by owners and managers were accepted from September 2006 to April 2007. Some 35 applications were received. After various reviews, the Secretary of the Interior selected 14 of the sites for the new U.S. Tentative List, which was submitted to the World Heritage Centre in January 2008.
