What problems did alfred wegener face when trying to present continental drift?
The basic problem Wegener faced was the “How?” for his theory. Wegener actually did good research and had some good examples of why the continents were once together (their shapes, rock formations that matched up, similar fossils on different continents, and climatic findings (evidence of ice sheet coverage). Like any proposed scientific theory, he needed to answer the question of how the continents moved, even though he correctly guessed that they did indeed move over time. Unfortunately for Mr. Wegener, he could not answer the question, so his theory was not generally accepted. The current theory of plate tectonics was able to answer that question, thus it is still a viable theory.
