What problems could a mother or baby experience when feeding the baby up to 1 years old?
You shouldn’t experience any problems, feeding wise. Just allow the baby / toddler to set his/her own feeding pattern. My children used to hop on my knee for comfort if they’d fallen over when learning to walk. Remember the breast is so much more than just a drink, and that’s exactly the way it should be. Never withhold it as a punishment unless it is due to biting. You may experience problems with other people’s attitudes although I think it unlikely these days. A group of anthropologists and archaelogists carried out extensive research into what would be the ‘natural’ age of weaning from the breast. This is of course, if we weren’t bombarded with formula company adverts and pressure from the media who make breasts intensely sexual ONLY and not for their true purpose. The results of this research were that children should breastfeed until they wean naturally at between 2 and 7 years of age.
