What problems come with lip piercings?
Lip piercings are one of the lesser risk-related piercings that you can get. Youre not piercing in an area with anything vital (such as eyebrow piercings which can cause vision problems or tounge piercings which can swell and block your airway). With any piercing though, there is risk of nerve damage in the piercing site or the buildup of additional scar tissue from the trauma. There is also the risk of Endocarditis with oral piercings – the piercing wound creates an avenue for bacteria from your mouth to travel through the bloodstream to your heart causing irregularities. What you have to realize also is that with any oral piercing you are creating a wound in an area that has a lot of bacteria (your mouth) and that means that you must be 10x more careful about following your cleaning regimen or you will get an infection. If you play with the piercing with your fingers you are also highly likely to get an infection. So long as you clean the piercing site well and follow your piercers g
