What printed resources deal with function points?

The following books and periodicals should be of interest to function point practitioners: • Release 4.0 of the IFPUG Function Point Counting Practices Manual is the final word in function point counting. It contains quite a few examples, most of them using GUIs. Like most reference manuals, it is not a substitute for a course. The IFPUG also makes some case studies available as learning aids. Contact information for IFPUG was given in the answer to “What is the IFPUG?” • Capers Jones has written more good books than I care to enumerate. Applied Software Measurement, written in 1991 and published by McGraw Hill, contains some information regarding the nature and counting of function points. More importantly, he gives a good deal of function point data that his firm has collected. He has continued this and started to interpret the data in 1994 with his Assessment and Control of Software Risks. This book is part of Prentice Hall’s Yourdon Press Computing Series.
