What price should I charge for translation services to/from English-Lithuanian?
I have my own translation agency. If you are going to start a business, why just stick with Lithuanian? I do Arabic-English myself, but it doesn’t stop me providing any language to any company – it’s not hard to find fully qualified translators out there. You have to make a profit. So, you find out what your translators will charge you and you make sure you have a decent profit margin to cover your costs and give you the income you need. In general, people charge more for the exotic languages, and European ones are cheaper. I’d say that translators typically charge up to 50% more for exotic languages. Also, translations into English are a bit cheaper than the other way around. Furthermore, it depends who you are doing the translation for. So, if I am doing translations for a large multinational company, I’m not going to charge the same rate for a lady who phones up and asks me to translate her marriage certificate.
