What Preschool Programs are there in Elk Grove?
Elk Grove currently operates preschool programs through four different funding sources at six elementary school sites Florin, Samuel Kennedy, Charles Mack, Florence Markofer, Prairie, and David Reese. Head Start is a federally funded program and serves 260 students in 3.5 hour classes, four days a week. The State funded preschool program serves 40 students in three hour classes, five days per week. The Title 1 Preschool program, funded by the Improving Americas s School Act of 1994, takes place during the 21st Century Twilight school hours (3:15 p.m. 6:15 p.m.), three days per week. A new source of funding for the preschool program comes from Sacramento County Children and Families through Proposition 10, the tobacco initiative. Classes funded through Proposition 10 serves 120 students in 3.5 hour class, four days a week and 3 hour classes at Twilight, three days a week. How do Students Participate?
