What precautions should be taken at the time of rearing?
Keep one bowel of 5% bleaching powder solution and one bowel of fresh water separately for proper sanitation of hands before and after handling of larvae. b) Dig a pit of one and half feet deep away from the rearing field for burial of diseased, dead and unequal larvae and dust mixture of slaked lime and bleaching powder mixture of 9:1 ratio. c) Use bamboo forceps for picking up dead and diseased larvae. d) Avoid frequent handling of larvae. Transfer the larvae by cutting the twigs as far as possible. e) Avoid such activities which may attract pests and predators to the rearing site. f) Use smoke in the morning and evening during winter season to avoid insect infestation.
