What precautions are taken for release of gaseous activity produced in the nuclear plant?
Gaseous nuclides are trapped through molecular sieves/ activated charcoal/ special kind of filter papers depending on the nature of gaseous particulates. A major part of atmospheric effluents is retained by this way and only small fraction consisting of noble gases find their way to the atmosphere. A41 is one of the significant activation nuclides generated in vault air cooling of present PHWRs. However, in the current design of PHWR from NAPP onwards the A41 production is minimised by minimising the air space and providing water cooling.
