What practices in native American traditions incorporate Cannabis (Marijuana)?

Marijuana is not intrinsic to Native Peoples (500 Nations) cultures of the United States. It was the Lipan Apaches who gave the Numunuh, (Comanches), peyote. Quanah Parker (Numunuh) started the Native American Church. Other native nations, such as the Dine’, (Navajo), and Oyate, have adopted the ways of the Native American Church from the Numunuh. There is an indigenous “nicotiana” of the U.S., which was used by several Native Peoples… the scientific name evades my memory. The American Indian Religious Freedom Act became law on August 11, 1978 (Public Law 95-341, 42 U.S.C. 1996 and 1996a), to protect and preserve Native American religion and culture. It gave us the right to use peyote in its traditional way, not as a recreational drug. StoryJunkie’s, response is pretty much on the nose. You answered the question yourself. Both Guppy Gibson and Prairie Fire made a few good points.
