What powers does a conservator or guardian have?
A. A conservator has power over the estate. S/he takes care of money and property, handles the income and pays the bills of the protected person. The conservator must report to the court on a periodic basis (usually annually) regarding the income and disbursements of the conservatorship. S/he can be held responsible for mismanaging the estate. A guardian makes personal decisions for the ward, such as medical care or where the person will live.
